Calie Hodgson of CIS awarded Service Above Self Award by Brunswick County Schools

Calie Hodgson, CIS Success Coach at South Brunswick Middle School was honored in early May receiving the Brunswick County Schools Service Above Self Award. She was nominated by Anne Joyner, Counselor at South Brunswick Middle School. This is what Ms. Joyner had to say about Calie and why she deserved the award:

“Calie Hodgson, CIS Success Coach at South Brunswick Middle School, pairs students with mentors and/or tutors to improve their education, provides support and encouragement to the at-risk student population, and monitors their progress. She has an excellent rapport with school staff working in partnership with teachers enabling her to better meet the needs of the students on her CIS caseload. Calie leads Rachel’s Challenge/Friends of Rachel’s Club at SBMS, which empowers students to be leaders among their peers. She runs the CIS Peer Court extremely well, and is highly respected by the volunteers who help with Peer Court. She helps with Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) school programs and the attendance committee, among many other things in school. Calie is an innovative thinker and problem solver who goes the extra mile to help staff, students, and parents. The students love, trust, and respect her. She is completely vested in CIS and SBMS and is the backbone of many of our programs. She is an exceptional role model who is visible and constantly interacting and making connections with students. There would be a HUGE hole at SBMS without Calie Hodgson, who truly goes above and beyond for our school.”
