Tutoring in core subject areas is one focus of the CIS Action for Success Program. CIS Success Coaches, along with community volunteers, provide one-on-one and small group tutoring throughout each week to work with students needing additional support to fully grasp new concepts introduced in the classroom, to prepare for quizzes and tests, and to help students recover lost skills due to time missed from school as a result of the COVID pandemic. Tutoring in Math, Reading/Language Arts, Social Studies, and Science helps students gain confidence in their ability to learn, increasing their participation in classroom discussions, and helps them keep pace with their peers.
Pictures from Waccamaw School and Supply Elementary highlight some of those tutoring sessions with elementary and middle school students.
