Jaedyn, a 4th grade student in the CIS Action for Success program at Supply Elementary is pictured with her Success Coach Mr. Drew at the softball field in Shallotte after one of her end of year games. Having a month’s worth of makeup work to complete to bring her failing grades up to passing grades, Mr. Drew made a deal with Jaedyn that if she completed all of the missing assignments, and brought her grades up to passing grades, he would go to her softball game and she could pitch to him after the game. Jaedyn worked with Mr. Drew for an hour or more several days each week for an entire month to complete all of her missing assignments, and not only managed to make passing grades, but she brought them up high enough to make the A/B honor roll for the fourth quarter grading period.
Mr. Drew purchased a pink baseball glove and protective mask and kept his promise to attend her last softball game and throw a pitch to her at the end of the game. He then presented Jaedyn with the pink glove and face mask as an ongoing reminder of what she can accomplish when she puts her mind to something and does not give up. Congratulations Jaedyn! You really hit this one out of the park!
