NEW CIS Thrift Shop Joins Shallotte Business Community

CIS is so happy to now have a 4th CIS Thrfit Shop open at 4501 Main Street in Shallotte. The shop helps raise funds to support CIS dropout prevention programs at eleven local elementary and middle schools, including several in the Shallotte area – Shallotte MIddle, Cedar Grove Middle, Waccamaw School, Supply Elementary, Virginia Williamson Elementary, and Jessie Mae Monroe Elementary- along with other sites – Lincoln Elementary, Bolivia Elementary, Leland Middle, Town Creek Middle, and South Brunswick Middle.  By donating, volunteering, and shopping in our Shallotte or other CIS Thrift Shops, located in Boiling Spring Lakes, Southport, and Sunset Beach, you can help support our work with over 550 at risk students annually. Services provided include academic tutoring, mentoring, behavior interventions, attendance interventions, social skills/character development, basic need items, club activities, case management, and linkage with community resources to support student and family needs.

Our new Shallotte CIS Thrift Shop is led by Manager Renee Minor who brings enthusiasm, creativity, and strong customer service skills to the shop. She loves meeting and getting to know new customers and donors and is also looking for volunteers to  help with sorting, preparing, tagging, and displaying clothing and other items for sale. Volunteers also receive a discount on shop purchases! Volunteer applications are available at the shop.

The shop accepts donations Monday through Friday from 10 AM – 4:30 PM and can accept baby’s, children’s, men;’s and women’s clothing, shoes purses, jewelry and other accessories, housewares, linens, books, music, DVDs, sporting equipment, holiday items, toys, and games. All CIS Thrift Shops are open Monday through Saturday from 10 AM to 5 PM for your shopping pleasure. Frequent Shopper cards are provided so our dedicated customers can earn money off of future purchases.

Pictured is our Ribbon Cutting Ceremony that took place on April 11, 2024. Both the community and CIS staff and board members are so excited to see this new location come to fruition after looking for the right location for several years.

Happy Thrifting!
